My name is Matt Houlihan and I’m the owner of Forever Memorial Cards.

I live near Lismore in Co. Waterford with my wife and our four children. This is home for us, and most of my working life has been spent dealing with local families, businesses and community groups throughout Waterford and the south of Ireland.

I have worked in print and design since 1989. Before setting up on my own, I was production manager in a busy Cork print company, gaining hands on experience in commercial printing, design, finishing and managing work where accuracy and deadlines mattered.

In 2000 I moved back home to Lismore and started my own printing business. I later moved the business to Dungarvan, where I spent many years working with families, clubs and businesses throughout West Waterford and beyond.

In 2016 we built a purpose built design studio and print works beside our home near Lismore, and that is still where we operate from today.

Over the years memorial cards became an important part of our work, and Forever Memorial Cards grew from that experience.

Personal service

Although most families order online, you are still dealing directly with people who understand the work.

We help with photographs, wording, verses and layout, and prepare a proof for approval before anything is printed. If changes are needed, we make them.

Old photographs can often be improved and different images can be brought together to create something more personal.

For families close to Lismore who would prefer to meet in person, a local home appointment can also be arranged.

Made to suit the person being remembered

Some families want a traditional religious memorial card. Others prefer something simple and modern.

A farmer may want a photograph of his farm or tractor. Someone who loved hurling, fishing, gardening, horses or the countryside may want that reflected in the design.

Our job is to listen and help create something that feels appropriate for the person being remembered and for the family.

Experience still matters

A lot has changed in printing since I started in 1989, but attention to detail still matters just as much.

Names, dates, photographs and wording all need to be right.
